Jon Bowman is in his fourth year as Director of Bands at Prattville High School. Mr. Bowman's duties include director of the "Pride of Prattville" Marching Band, conductor of the Prattville High School Wind Symphony, conductor of the Jazz Band and assists with the Prattville High School Symphonic and Concert Bands.
In his first year as Director of Bands, Mr. Bowman led the "Pride of Prattville" Marching Band to Superior ratings at the Phenix City Invitational and the Lake Martin Invitational. He also led the Prattville High School Wind Symphony to its first Superior rating at State Contest for the first time in 24 years.
Before coming to Prattville, Mr. Bowman spent three years as the Director of Bands at Tallassee High School in Tallassee, Alabama where he was named "Who's Who in Music Education" in the Spring of 2005. While at Tallassee, Mr. Bowman increased the numbers in the marching band from 65 to 120. Under his direction the band never received less than "Superior" ratings at contests and festivals. Before moving to Tallassee, Mr. Bowman spent one year as the Director of Bands at Beauregard High School in Opelika, Alabama where he was also the assistant baseball coach.
Mr. Bowman holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Auburn University and a Master of Music Education from Auburn University. While at Auburn, Mr. Bowman played in
Mr. Bowman has also performed on numerous occasions with the Montgomery Symphony, the Alabama Symphony, the Columbus Symphony and the LaGrange Symphony. Mr. Bowman has toured and performed in New York, Orlando and many cities across the Southeast, as well as seven countries in Western Europe.
Mr. Bowman's past and present professional affiliations include the National Band Association, Music Educators National Conference, Alabama Music Education Association, Alabama Bandmaster's Association, Phi Mu Alpha and the Alabama Education Association. Mr. Bowman is married to Beth Bowman, who is a real estate agent in Montgomery, Alabama.
